Markus Eckerman is a singer and guitarist who has been writing and creating music for several decades, and only now is it being released. 

On April 30, he released his first single, A Star Shining, along with his debut EP, Tungelsta.

The single was originally recorded back in 2018 at Sandkvie Studio together with Mikael Lyander. It wasn’t until several years later, when Markus returned to Stockholm, that he played the recording for bassist and longtime friend Mikael Iiskola, as well as producer and drummer Mikael Rosén. Something happened. Overnight, the song found new life, its character took shape, and its sound was revitalized. The recording also features Gunnar Frick on pedal steel. 

This led to the recording of four additional songs — tracks that had grown over the years in London, Berlin, Blekinge, and Stockholm. The first song, Taxi Driver, began taking shape in London but wasn’t completed until later in Berlin together with his sister Frida. In Berlin, Handicap Disco and Feeling Lonely and Depressed were also born, and in Blekinge, Rendezvous took shape — featuring Dino Shanios on slide guitar. 

The EP was recorded over a few days in November 2024 in a small cabin in Tungelsta. Over the years, the music has been shaped by the landscapes it emerged from, and has finally materialized in Tungelsta.
