Biography
Markus Eckerman, a singer and guitarist who has spent decades writing and creating music, finally released his work to the public in the spring of 2025 with the single A Star Shining and the EP Tungelsta.
The single was originally recorded in 2018 at Sandkvie Studio, and revisited in the autumn of 2024 together with bassist — and longtime friend — Mikael Iiskola. Along with producer and drummer Mikael Rosén, the two transformed it into a full radio version.
This led to new sessions and four more songs, written and shaped by Markus during years spent in London, Berlin, Blekinge, and Stockholm. The first, Taxi Driver, was begun in London and later completed in Berlin together with his sister Frida. In Berlin, Handicap Disco and Feeling Lonely and Depressed also came to life. The fourth track was originally another Berlin song, but after its recording proved too time-consuming, Rendezvous — written in Blekinge some 15 years later — took its place.
The recordings for the EP took place over a few November days in 2024 in a small cottage in Tungelsta. When the follow-up release in the spring of 2025 failed to gain traction, the idea emerged to submit a track to P4 Nästa Stjärna — a chance to reach a wider audience. Out of the drawer came Wrecko, dusted off and recorded once more in the Tungelsta cottage.
